A lengthy investigation by Sheriff’s Major Crimes detectives leads to the arrest of Neydi Garcia for multiple counts of grand theft, identity theft and filing a fraudulent tax return.
Neydi Garcia was hired by Camarillo business owner Thomas Staben in 2016. Over time, Garcia gained Staben’s trust and became his Chief Financial Officer. Garcia was responsible for all of Staben’s personal and business finances. In March of 2017, Garcia began embezzling money from both Staben’s personal and business accounts. She continued her criminal behavior until her thefts were discovered in May of 2019.
Investigators determined that Garcia stole / embezzled in excess of nine hundred thousand dollars ($900,000.00) from Staben’s personal and business accounts between 2017 and 2019. On October 18, 2020, Garcia turned herself in for arrest at the Camarillo Police Station after learning a warrant had been issued for her arrest.
Garcia was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility and her bail is currently set at one million dollars ($1,000,000.00). She appeared in Ventura County Superior Court this morning and her next scheduled court date is October 22, 2020.
