    Traffic Stop Leads to Gun and Drugs

    Simi Valley Police Department – Incident Press Release

    In the early morning hours of September 1, 2020, SVPD Patrol Officers located a vehicle travelling in the 200 block of Royal Ave. After observing the vehicle commit a traffic violation, an enforcement stop was initiated and the three occupants of the vehicle were contacted. The driver, Michael Menther, 41 from Simi Valley, was found to have an active warrant for his arrest as well as Ventura County probation search terms. A passenger, Michael Arellanes, 27 from Oxnard, was also confirmed to be on active CDCR parole for robbery. During the subsequent search of the vehicle, Officers located a loaded handgun, narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia in the passenger compartment.

    At the conclusion of the investigation Menther, Arrellanes and the second passenger Shane Nimitz, 37 from Simi Valley, were all taken into custody for various felony weapons and narcotics violations. All three subjects were booked at Ventura County Jail.
