Trump:  “Win back the White House and drain the swamp in Washington, D.C.”

By Michael Hernandez

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA—“In 17 days we’re going to win the great Commonwealth of Virginia and win back the White House,” said Donald Trump at a Saturday, 10-22-16 outdoor rally held at the Regent University campus.   “My greatest privilege, is the time I have spent with the evangelical community and people of faith.  There is no more decent people in the United States, than Christian brothers and sisters. (Editor’s Note:  Mr. Hernandez was a communication major in the first graduating class in 1980 from CBN University, which later changed its name to Regent University.)

“If elected President, I would drain the swamp in Washington D.C.,” said Trump.   “I would bring in tough ethics reform, renegotiate our terrible trade deals, end illegal immigration, stop refugees, reduce crime, cut taxes, unleash jobs, and cherish faith and religious liberty by getting rid of the Johnson Amendment which is a disaster for our great people and the church.”

Prior to Trump’s speech, Ralph Reed, chairman of the Faith and Freedom Coalition questioned the rally attendees:  “Are you ready to shock the liberal media on November 8th?   I was called a ‘Deplorable’ by Hillary Clinton.  Half the country were called ‘Deplorables’ and this was a prepared text; but she also said Donald Trump supporters were ‘unredeemable’. But men and women we have been redeemed by the sacrifice and blood of Jesus Christ; that’s how we are redeemed.”  Reed stated that the Faith and Freedom Coalition had produced a nonpartisan Voter Guide with 30 million copies being distributed in the 10 battleground states.

Praying on the stage was Rev. Tony Suarez, Executive Vice President of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, “Not only am I ‘Deplorable” but I am a Latino for Trump.  His prayer:  “I ask that you (the Lord) would bless our nominee Donald J. Trump to lead our nation.”

Speaking just before Trump was former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani who said, “When you are headed in he wrong direction, what do you do but change direction.   We need to elect someone from the outside not someone part of the corruption.  We have one chance to fix it.  That chance is with Donald Trump.  We can have America back again in the hands of the people, not in the hands of the insiders.”

Trump’s speech focused on:

  • Health Care: Repealing and replacing “the disaster known as Obamacare.”  President Obama “promised it would be affordable” but look at the health insurance premiums.  The Democratic governor of Minnesota has said the Affordable Healthcare Act “is no longer affordable” and former President Bill Clinton said that “Obamacare is the craziest thing in the world.”
  • Military: “We’re the greatest people in earth but our military is depleted.  We are going to totally rebuild our military—starting with the Navy right here in Virginia Beach—creating a 350 ship fleet.  We need to have peace through strength.”
  • Economics: “We are at one percent growth.  I will get that to four percent growth,” said Trump.   “Many workers earn less today than 18 years ago.  They are working harder and working longer.   According to Trump, “47 million Americans live in poverty, 45 million on food stamps and America has an 800 billon trade deficit.
  • Manufacturing and Trade: “We have lost 70,000 factories since China entered in to the World Trade Organization,” said Trump.  We’re going to renegotiate NAFTA.”
  • Rebuild our Inner Cities: “There is no education, no jobs, no safety for African Americans and Hispanics living in the inner cities.   Since the beginning of the year, we have had 3,500 shot in Chicago.   Homicides are up 50 percent in Washington D.C. and 60 percent in Baltimore.  I will get this fixed.  We will be a safe country.”
  • Immigration:   “National security begins at the borders.  Hillary’s dream is to be open trade and open borders.  We can’t be a country with open borders.  It will be the end of the United States.   Open borders with the Middle East means a generation of radical terrorists spreading and growing in our shores.  If I am elected, we’re going to keep radical Islamic terrorist out of our country.”

“The amazing things I am going to do:  the biggest tax cut since Ronald Reagan and eliminate regulations that are killing our businesses and ending our religious liberty. I will provide school choice for every American, end Common Core and bring education back to local communities.  I will support men and women of law enforcement.  I will take care of our wonderful veterans.  We’re going to save the Second Amendment and I will appoint justices to the U.S. Supreme Court that will defend the Constitution of the United States.

“You have 17 days to make every dream for your children and country to come true.   I want you proud of your country and hopefully proud of your President.   We will make America strong again, we will make America safe again, we will make America great again.”
