Two automobile accidents accrued in a 3 mile stretch of the 101 freeway between Oxnard and Camarillo less than an hour apart. The first one happened between Del Norte Blvd and Central Ave when a small truck on the south bound inside lane went into the dirt in the center median, went back into the lanes and lost control rolling through the fence, went across E. Ventura Blvd. and into a small ditch rear end first. I happened to be five or so cars behind in the middle lane when the cloud of dust was seen at about 10:25 a.m.
Several commuters stopped to help as well as local residents. The passenger sustained minor injuries from broken glass on his right arm and fingers. The driver was not injured.
Ventura County Sheriff and California Highway Patrol responded within 10 minutes. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
The second accident happened on my way back to Oxnard on the northbound lanes between Carmen Drive and Las Posas Rd. in Camarillo at about 11:00 a.m. Two compact automobiles were involved in a rear end collision. The condition of the vehicle occupants was unknown at the time of the drive by photo. California Highway Patrol and Camarillo Fire Department responded to the scene. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
