From my back yard on Snow Ave., the screeching tires were heard and seconds later the sound of the impact, this around 5:15pm.
I drove to Rio Lindo and sure enough, a compact gray Honda was parked at the intersection of Rio Lindo St. and Lavanda Dr. with several people around it. I said to them, “ I heard screeching tires and an impact, was there an accident? They responded, “yes, he went that way”! (West on Rio Lindo St.) “Is it a hit and run”?, I asked. “Yes”, a young lady said.
The offending vehicle also hit a second car, a black Nissan Maxima, at Princetown Ave. and Harvard St.
I proceeded to search for the vehicle. When I got to Princeton Ave. and Harvard St.there was a parked black Nissan that had been rear ended by the same vehicle. I followed a trail of antifreeze left onto Vanderbilt Dr. right to Villanova Ave. and left to St Mary’s Dr. The trail disappears into Vineyard Ave.
The young lady, a Rio Lindo neighborhood resident driving the gray Honda stated that a dark colored Honda came out of Lavanda Dr. at high speed making a wide right turn. In an attempt to avoid a collision, she veered to the left. The speeding vehicle hit her on the passenger side, sideswiping the doors.
The young lady was not injured, but was obviously shaken by the experience.
Oxnard police was call to the scene and took information. A witness driving behind the vehicle hit, gave a description of the responsible vehicle, and said that it had no license plate, just the DCH Oxnard Honda tag.
Police conducted a search for the damaged vehicle. Anybody with information of a front end damaged dark gray Honda is encouraged to contact Oxnard Police.
