During the month of May 2021, Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail detectives began an investigation into Ryan Newbert for drug trafficking in the city of Camarillo. During the investigation detectives learned Newbert had a felony warrant for his arrest which was issued by the Ventura County Superior Courthouse.
On June 16, 2021, Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail detectives with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Gang Unit, located Newbert in the city of Camarillo. Detectives contacted Newbert and located a firearm on his person. Newbert’s criminal history prohibits him from owning and or possessing any firearms or ammunition. Additionally, Detectives contacted Michael Judson who was present with Newbert.
During the investigation, detectives seized a quantity of methamphetamine and other evidence to support drug sales and transportation for sales of drugs. Based on the investigation, Newbert was arrested for the felony warrant, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, a felon in possession of a stun gun, possession for sales of a controlled substance and transportation of a controlled substance for sales. Newbert is currently in custody in lieu of $60,000 bail in addition to a no bail felony warrant. He is scheduled for court on June 18, 2021.
Detectives also arrested Judson for being under the influence of a controlled substance. A search warrant was later served at Judson’s residence located in the 17000 block of Keswick Street in Northridge. Detectives seized a total of 12 illegal firearms, a large cache of various
calibers of ammunition, several firearm magazines and evidence consistent with firearm manufacturing. Judson’s criminal history prohibits him from owning and or possessing any firearms or ammunition. Detectives subsequently booked Judson for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, illegal manufacturing of an assault weapon, possession of an assault weapon by a prohibited person and possession of a short-barreled rifle. Judson is currently in custody in lieu of $110,000 bail. He is scheduled for court on June 21, 2021.
The Camarillo Special Enforcement Detail is comprised of six plain clothes detectives who focus on efforts that negatively affect the quality of life of the law-abiding citizens of Camarillo. The goal of Camarillo SED is to reduce property and violent crime through investigations and direct enforcement.
