Two suspects arrested for stealing computers from Ventura residence

On Sunday morning, healing 2-22-15 at approximately 9:25am, the Ventura Police dispatch center received a call regarding two subjects seen entering the open garage of a residence in the 1000 block of Gilbert Lane. The witness reported seeing the two subjects exit the garage carrying several laptop computers and other electronic items. Officers arrived on scene and contacted the victims, who confirmed that the suspects had entered the garage and had taken several computers; cameras and other property while the victims were home inside of the house.

Police canvassed the area and located two suspects who matched the descriptions that had been provided by the witness. The suspects were contacted in the area of the Peppertree Condos, located at 1300 Saratoga St. The witness to the crime positively identified one of the suspects, 23 year old David Stratman, as one of the suspects that were seen entering the victim’s garage and leaving with stolen property. Officers located the majority of the stolen property after Stratman led them to where it had been stashed.

The second suspect, 21 year old Manuel Leon, was not positively identified by the witness as being involved in the burglary. During contact with Leon, he was found to be in possession of narcotic paraphernalia, and stolen property related to a theft from a vehicle that had occurred earlier in the morning in the Peppertree Condo complex. As a result of the investigation, Stratman was arrested for residential burglary and receiving stolen property. Leon was arrested for possession of narcotic paraphernalia and receiving stolen property. Both suspects were booked at the Ventura County jail for the above listed offenses.
