Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help from the public to identify a deceased male.
On 1/24/2021, deputies from the Sheriff’s Headquarters station responded to a deceased male off the shore of Hollywood Beach in the unincorporated area of Oxnard. Upon their arrival, they learned the individual had been found in the water by medical personnel, and pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators from the Major Crimes Bureau and the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to assist with the investigation.
Investigators learned the decedent was not wearing any clothing, nor could any identifying information be found for him at the scene. The Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the decedent and the cause of death is pending further investigation.
Based on the investigation, it is believed the male decedent was approximately 5’10” to 6’02” in height, approximately 150 to 200 pounds in weight, and possibly had reddish-blonde hair. Based on the decedent’s condition, it is believed he could have been in the water for an extended amount of time. Although an exact age cannot be determined, investigators do not believe this was a child, nor an elderly individual.
The Sheriff’s Office is requesting information regarding any missing individuals, specifically those who match the previous criteria. In addition, information about abandoned vehicles or boats in coastal communities could be of significant assistance in identifying this individual. Although this individual was located in Ventura County, citizens in neighboring counties are encouraged to contact investigators if they are aware of a missing person who matches the listed descriptors.
