On 12/15/22 at 0719 hours, Ventura Police Collision Investigators and Street Crimes Unit Detectives arrested Craig Arellanes and Tiffany Smith for their involvement in the fatal hit and run versus a pedestrian that occurred on 1/7/22 in the area of Harbor Bl. and Sanjon Rd. Arellanes was charged with felony hit and run causing death, destroying or concealing evidence and providing false information during a traffic investigation. Smith was charged with providing false information during a traffic investigation. Both Arellanes and Smith were booked at Ventura County Jail where Arellanes is being held on $70,000 bail and
Smith is being held on $20,000 bail while awaiting further court proceedings.
On 1/7/22 at about 0504 hours the Ventura Police Command Center received a 911 call of a subject down in the roadway on Harbor Bl., between Sanjon Rd. and Vista Del Mar Drive.
Responding officers arrived on scene and found an unresponsive male subject laying in the eastbound lane of Harbor Boulevard. Fire and paramedic personnel rendered immediate medical attention, but the victim succumbed to his injuries as a result of the collision.
The ensuing investigation revealed a vehicle had collided with the victim on Harbor Bl. and that vehicle failed to stop. At this time, we have not located the vehicle involved in this fatal collision and traffic investigators are gathering evidence.
