Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release
On August 22nd 5:08 PM, the Ventura Police Department Command Center received a call of vandalism in progress at the Westpark Community Center at 450 West Harrison Ave. Upon arriving in the area, responding officers located the suspect, Omar Gutierrez, riding away on a bicycle. Officers were able to stop Gutierrez and detain him for further investigation.
Investigating Officers contacted witnesses who saw Gutierrez using a permanent marker to write graffiti on the community center walls. Officers located numerous locations having graffiti and determined that the damage caused by Gutierrez was over $400. During the investigation, Gutierrez was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.
Gutierrez was arrested for felony vandalism and possession of a controlled substance.
A review of the Ventura County Superior Court website shows that Gutierrez has prior convictions for battery and DUI.
