On June 10, 2022, detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Street Team concluded a narcotics sales investigation into Los Angeles resident Kevin Mercier, who was involved in the sales of illegal narcotics to residents of Ventura County.
During the past several months, detectives developed information regarding the drug trafficking activities of Kevin Mercier. Information obtained indicated Mercier was involved in the distribution of bulk quantities of illegal narcotics to street level drug dealers in Ventura County. These street level drug dealers would in-turn distribute the narcotics obtained from Mercier to local drug users throughout Ventura County.
On June 10, 2022, detectives with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Street Team, executed a search warrant at Mercier’s residence located in the 5300 Block of Poinsettia Place, in Hollywood California. During the execution of the search warrant detectives seized approximately 116 gross grams of methamphetamine, 352 gross grams of psilocybin mushrooms, several hundred counterfeit M30 hydrocodone and Xanax pills, over 40 fluid ounces of promethazine syrup, 1700 grams of marijuana, over 20 fluid ounces of Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), two rifles, a stolen shotgun, ammunition, a plate carrier with steel plates, and cash believed to be derived from illegal drug sales.
In addition, detectives also located evidence Mercier was involved in the illegal manufacturing of GHB and Dimethyltryptamine (DMT). GHB is a designer drug with strong anesthetic properties known in the streets as the “Date Rape Drug”. DMT is a hallucinogenic tryptamine drug commonly sold in the black market and is highly addictive.
The hydrocodone and Xanax pills are highly abused and often contribute to fatal and non-fatal overdoses. These pills amongst others, are often counterfeited, mass produced in the black market and sold throughout the United States for large profits. The pills look identical to legitimate medications and are sometimes mixed with fentanyl, which make them extremely dangerous.
Based on this investigation, Mercier was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility on various narcotics and weapons charges. Mercier’s bail was set at $50,000.00 and is awaiting court proceedings. Additional arrests are pending.
