    Vehicle Pursuit Arrest Made

    News Release

On October 12, 2022 at 9:36 A.M., Officers from the Port Hueneme Police Department located a stolen vehicle in the area of the 700 block of Hueneme Road. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, led Officers on a pursuit into the City of Oxnard and ultimately collided into two parked vehicles in the area of Ventura Road and Azalea Street.

The suspect fled on foot into a nearby neighborhood and after an extensive search was not located.
Investigators developed several leads, including evidence that the suspect may have purchased items at a local department store.

Using surveillance video to identity the possible suspect, a subsequent search warrant was served and investigators developed evidence connecting 34 year-old Oxnard resident Gregory George County to the stolen vehicle and pursuit.

On January 11, 2023 a warrant was issued for County’s arrest.

On February 7, 2023 County was contacted by Oxnard Police Department and taken into
custody for the outstanding warrant related to this incident.

County was booked into the Ventura County Jail and charged with Unlawful Driving or Taking of a Vehicle, Felony Evading, Hit-and-Run, and Receiving Stolen Property. Bail was set at $20,000. County was also a parolee-atlarge and booked on a no-bail parole hold.

Anyone with information or questions about this incident can contact Acting Detective Sergeant Nora Starna at the Port Hueneme Police Department (805) 986-6642 or via email at [email protected]
