Vehicle stolen from driveway of home recovered – Two suspects arrested
ampoule arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>On Sunday, March 27th, 2016, at 2:38pm, an alert citizen called the Ventura Police Command Center and reported their vehicle had just been stolen from the front of their house in the 400 block Jones Street. The call was immediately sent out to patrol officers, and the first officer to arrive in the area saw the stolen vehicle driving out of the neighborhood at a high rate of speed.
Before the officer could catch up to the vehicle, the suspects pulled the vehicle into a driveway in the 500 block of Arcade Drive. As the vehicle came to an abrupt stop in the driveway, both suspects attempted to run away, however the officer was able to detain one of them.
The other suspect did initially get away, however additional officers had arrived to assist found him near Channel Drive and detained him.
The investigation revealed 38 year old Ventura resident, Jose Ortiz was on active parole and 34 year old Ventura resident, Brandon Nugent was on active probation. It was also determined the two of them had worked together to steal the vehicle. At the conclusion of the investigation, both suspects were booked into Ventura County Jail on the charges of conspiracy and stealing the vehicle. No one was injured during this incident.
