Ventura–13 year old girl reports break-in to police

ventura.policeA 13-year-old female victim, order reported a residential burglary in progress at 4pm this afternoon.  The girl was home alone with her 8-year-old brother when an unknown male adult began loudly knocked on the front door of the residence.  The girl and her brother immediately went into a back bedroom and locked the door.  A short time had passed when she heard a back window being opened and then footsteps inside the house.  The family’s dogs also barked.  The girl called 911 and was kept on the phone with the 911 dispatcher until officers arrived. 

The officers discovered an open back window and evidence that entry had been made into the residence. The police found the girl and her brother unharmed and safely removed them through the bedroom window.  Once they residents were removed, officers searched the house with the assistance of a Ventura Police K-9.  The suspect was not found in the residence, although property had been taken.
