Ventura: 3 Suspects Caught with $30,000 in cash after using Fake ID’s at Well Fargo Branches

Today, September 30th, at approximately 2:10 PM, the Ventura Police Department Command Center received a call from employees at Wells Fargo Bank in the 5700 block of Telephone Rd., reporting a subject inside the bank attempting to obtain a cash advancement using a fake ID and credit card. The subject became suspicious and fled the bank before officers arrived. He was last seen getting into a vehicle and leaving the area.
Approximately 30 minutes later, the Command Center received a call from a bank teller at the Wells Fargo Bank inside the Vons store in the 100 block of W. Main St., reporting a subject there now attempting to obtain a large amount of cash using a fake debit card. The subject left the store shortly after the teller called, but employees saw him getting into a vehicle which matched the description from the earlier call.
An officer responding to the call saw the vehicle on Thompson Blvd. and conducting a traffic stop near California St.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found numerous fake out of state ID’s and credit cards with Wounded Warrior on them, computer equipment for making cards and over $30,000 in large denominations.
It appears the suspects were dressing in clothing depicting that they were members of the Armed Forces to legitimize the use of the fake credit cards.
Officers were able to determine the suspects were successful in obtaining cash from banks in Camarillo and Oxnard. With the amount of cash that was found, other banks throughout the region are potential victims and are asked to contact their local law enforcement agencies.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Ford, who was the driver of the suspect vehicle, was arrested for forgery, identify theft and conspiracy. Suspects Horton and Ballard were arrested for forgery, identify theft, burglary and conspiracy. All the suspects were booked into the Ventura County Jail.
An adult female occupant of the vehicle was release from the scene without being arrested.
