Ventura: Alert neighbor helps police catch suspect in burglary

handcuffs.handsThe Ventura Police Department’s Command Center received a 911 call from a witness reporting a burglary that just occurred to a residence in the 100 block of S. Seaward Ave.  The caller reported seeing a subject removing property from a neighbor’s residence and leave in a vehicle.

Officers responding to the call saw the vehicle in the 4200 block of Main St. and initiated a traffic stop.  The driver, sickness later identified as the suspect, store James Kellner, was contacted.  During a search of his vehicle, the victim’s property from inside the victim’s residence was located in the vehicle.  Kellner was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail for possessing stolen property and resisting arrest.  He is a 36 year resident of the city.

The victim resident was not home at the time of the incident.  All of the stolen property was returned to the victim.
