    Ventura Bicycle Theft Suspect Arrested

Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release

On July 13th, 2020, Ventura Police Department patrol officers responded to a late reported residential burglary in the 2000 block of Antelope Ave.

The victim had left their garage door open for about four hours. During that time, from about 1 pm to 5:00 pm, an unknown subject later identified as Jose Gaeta Centeno entered the garage and stole the victim’s beach cruiser bicycle. While Gaeta Centeno  9-25-97 (Ventura Resident) was in the garage, the victim was at home.

SCU Detectives using investigative tools were able to identify a primary suspect as Jose Gaeta Centeno. Investigators conducted a probation search of Gaeta Centeno’s residence, where he was arrested for residential burglary.

A review of the Ventura County Superior Court website revealed Jose Gaeta Centeno has prior arrests for battery on a peace officer, providing false information to a peace officer, public intoxication, possession of a controlled substance, and prescription fraud.

The Ventura Police Department Street Crimes Unit would like to remind people to keep their cars, windows, and doors locked.
