Brookshire Ave.  The caller reported the driver of the vehicle was now in a physical fight with the bicyclist.  Officers, along with Ventura City Fire personnel, responded to the call and detained the driver, later identified as 32 year old Oxnard resident, Luis Gonzales and the two suspects, later identified as 30 year old Christian Gutierrez and 40 year old Shane Hale, both vagrants.

Officers learned Gonzales was driving his vehicle southbound on S. Brookshire Ave., when Gutierrez and Hale, who were riding bikes, suddenly exited the Vons parking lot onto Brookshire Ave. and collided into the side of his vehicle.  Gonzales immediately pulled over after the accident to render aid.  By the time he got out of his vehicle, Gutierrez had picked up his bike and started attacking Gonzales, using his bicycle as a weapon.  Gonzales fell to the ground, sustaining a moderate laceration to his arm and an injury to his head.  While on the ground, Hale kicked Gonzales.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Gutierrez was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.  Hale was cited and released for battery.

Gonzales was treated at the scene and released.
