    Ventura | Convicted Felon Arrested for Firearm Possession

    On 7/18/2020, at 1:48 am, a Sheriff’s Deputy assigned to the Ojai Valley was patrolling the North Ventura Avenue and Crooked Palm Road area. The deputy made a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle being driven by Joseph Koerber, age 66. During the stop, the deputy was informed of a possible firearm in the vehicle. A records inquiry discovered Koerber had previous felony convictions for forgery, possession of a stolen vehicle, and grand theft. Due to his convictions, he was prohibited from possessing or owning firearms or ammunition.

    Deputies conducted a search of Koerber’s vehicle and found him in possession of two loaded firearms, a .380 caliber and 9mm semi-auto handguns. The 9mm handgun was loaded with high capacity magazine. An additional high capacity magazine and boxes of ammunition were also found.

    Based on the investigation, Koerber was arrested for violations of felon in possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and possession of a high capacity magazine. He was booked at the Ventura County Jail with bail set at $55,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on 7/31/2020, at 8:15 am.

    Usual for crooked palm road. Always something happening around there, especially with all the drug people in that area
