Ventura County and Nearby Areas Congress/Assembly Race Status

By George Miller

CD 26 third term incumbent, former State Senator and teacher Julia Brownley is handily defeating (59.5%- 40.5%) opponent actor/model Antonio Sabato Jr. so far. Sabato barely edged out Republican opponent, disabled war vet, USAF Major, war college professor and retired CPA Jeff Burum in the primary, although supported by key party elite, Trump elements, even some churches.

It looks like CD25 Republican incumbent Steve Knight (52%) will hold onto his seat, but it’s close, in the battle against well-funded Democrat opponent Katie Hill. (11-7-18 3am shows Knight now barely edging out Hill)

In CD30, longtime Dem incumbent Brad Sherman again, in a heavily Democratic district, overwhelmed perennial Conservative Republican challenger Mark Reed, a politician who says he can genuinely claim some “Native American” blood.

In  Central Coast District AD37, which starts in far Western Oxnard and Ventura  and heads north, a Democrat vs. Democrat race resulted in incumbent Monique Limon dominating with 73.70 % of the vote at last count early this morning.

AD38 Republican incumbent Dante Acosta may likely barely hold onto his seat in the battle against Democrat Christy Smith.

AD44 Democrat second-term incumbent Jacqui Irwin is comfortably leading Republican Challenger Ronda Baldwin-Kennedy, a previously publicly unknown Conservative black attorney who bettered the electoral record of Irwin’s last Republican challenger. Baldwin-Kennedy had run for office in Santa Clarita, before moving with her family to Oak Park a couple of years ago. She has a law office in Ventura and gives free seminars on immigration.

West San Fernando Valley AD45 Democrat candidate Jesse Gabriel was ahead of Republican Justin Clark by 10% last time we checked. A predecessor, Matt Dababneh, was forced out of office on a #MeToo situation.
