Ventura County Fourth of July Celebrations- 2013

July 4 celebrations were held around the county.  The Channel Islands show is noted for its harbor scenes alone.  The show has been cut back over the years, due to budgetary considerations. Thousands of people lined the harbor walk along Harbor Boulevard and South Peninsula Road. Many families were in evidence, celebrating the holiday, along with RV’s camping in parking lots.

Unfortunately, a major accident (above) at the Simi Valley fireworks show in Santa Susanna Park injured 28 people (see ABC Report). About two minutes into the show, stored fireworks started exploding and injured people within range. Reportedly no serious injuries.
