    VENTURA, California – District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that hate crime charges were filed against Thomas Pecel (DOB 02/04/83), of Oxnard, related to an incident that occurred on July 2, 2021, in Oxnard.

    Pecel assaulted a 51-year-old Hispanic male and yelled a racial slur at the victim in the area of East Gonzales Road. The Oxnard Police Department responded and arrested Pecel.

    Pecel was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to be arraigned on battery and hate crime charges on July 16, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. in courtroom 12 of the Ventura County Superior Court.
