Ventura County Sheriff arrest 19 year old suspect for attempted murder

drugs arial,sans-serif;”>On 8/20/2015, deputies from the Headquarters Patrol Station responded to the 400 block of Salem Avenue in the unincorporated area of El Rio for a shots fired call. Patrol deputies found a vehicle parked at a residence with two bullet holes. No one was injured. The crime scene was processed for evidence.

On 08/23/2015, patrol deputies from the Headquarters Patrol Station responded to the 400 block of Salem Avenue reference another shots fired call for service at the same residence on 8/20/2015. Members of the Sheriff’s Gang Unit and members of the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau also responded to the scene. Detectives located and identified a crime scene that contained evidence of a shooting and were also able to quickly identify a suspect in the shooting. The suspect was identified as 19 year old 19 year old Robert Grand of Oxnard.

On 08/24/2015, members of the Sheriff’s Gang Unit along with members of the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau located Grand in Goleta, California. Grand was arrested without incident. Grand was found to be in possession of two firearms and evidence linking him to the shooting that occurred in the 400 block of Salem Avenue. One of the firearms was a reported stolen gun from a burglary in Kern County. The second weapon was an AR15 Assault Rifle with an illegal 30 round magazine.

Grand was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for the following charges: 664/187 PC Attempted Murder, 245(a)(2) PC Assault with a Firearm, 246 PC Shooting at inhabited dwelling, 487(d)(2) PC Grand Theft of Firearm, 30605(a) PC Possession of Assault Rifle. Grand’s bail was set at $700,000 and he will be arraigned on Wednesday.
