Ventura County’s first public market, The Annex, opens at The Collection at RiverPark with sneak peek weekend Nov. 18-19

The Annex Marks Ventura County’s New Home for the “Locally Grown”

Artistry, individuality, community and culture materializes in the form of Ventura County’s first and only public market, The Annex, now open at The Collection at RiverPark in Oxnard.

The Annex is a 16,000-square-foot public market-style space located within Ventura County’s premier shopping, dining and entertainment destination, The Collection. Celebrating the spirit of small business, the new community-minded center offers a platform for artisans who want to share their passion with others in a one-of-a-kind, inviting atmosphere. The Annex brings together an eclectic mix of 12 microshops, artisan boutiques and craft food and beverage purveyors who offer a unique flavor to the shared space, which combines bar-front eating with common-area seating.

“We had a vision to create a space that evokes the feeling of creative expression, where the region’s most talented chefs and retailers could converge and showcase their ingenuity in a place they would be appreciated by the consumers who enjoy the experiences our center has to offer,” said Michael Pynn, general manager for The Collection. “The Annex elicits an unequivocal energy and takes on the personality of its unique tenants, who each bring something distinctive to the table.”

Some of Ventura County’s finest culinary talents are among the offerings of The Annex, including: Scratch Sandwich Counter, the first brick and mortar location for celebrated Chef Tim Kilcoyne’s Scratch Food Truck; beer tap room and bottle shop, Bottle & Pint; popular family-owned Mexican eatery, Taqueria El Tapatio; specialty coffeehouse Ragamuffin Coffee Roasters, and favorite Vietnamese hotspot, Love Pho Café

The Annex was originally created to highlight the region’s homegrown brands, but rising star-entrepreneurs hailing from major cities across Southern California have set their sights on the new public market to expand their brands and reach Ventura County’s enthusiastic consumers. New businesses to the area are: The Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race winner Seoul Sausage; Woodland Hills hot spot Gasolina Café, and the debut of Chef Sandra Cordero’s new concept Pancake; handcrafted home goods shop, CherryHills Market; smoothie, acai bowl and juice bar, The Blend Superfood Bar; custom and handmade jewelry store, Sueño Jewelry Studio, and health food-inspired dining concept, PokeCeviche.

Ventura County’s public market is deeply connected to its Ventura County home, and reflects many of the region’s cultural and visual characteristics depicting a convergence of coastal and farmland ambiance. The Annex boasts a laid-back atmosphere that evokes the American heritage with a modern twist. Each space’s design is infused with a lot of personality, displaying heritage pieces and original artwork. The vibe is creative and artistic, and demonstrated by the eclectic collection of distressed materials, natural textures, and recycled objects through the space.

The creative space will also be host to a range of intimate community events from a farmer’s market, live music, and Spoken Word nights, to family promotions and 21-and-over craft workshops, and more.

“Between The Collection and The Annex, the destination as a whole offers the community unparalleled experiences for residents and visitors alike with its juxtaposition of corporate retailers, mom-and-pop style shops, entertainment and unforgettable community events,” said Pynn. “We are proud to introduce this unique concept to this incredible community.”

Guests are invited to experience The Annex for the first time during a special sneak peek weekend from November 18-19 as several tenants begin to open for business. Tenants will continue to open through the month. The Annex will host a community celebration in January. Details will be announced at a later date.

The Annex will be open mornings until late-night, daily. For more information about The Annex and special events, visit http://thecollectionrp.com/the_annex, or follow the hashtag #TheAnnexRP.
