Residents of a large condominium complex were awakened early Friday morning to the smell of smoke from one of the trash facilities and laundry rooms. Firefighters made access through one of the gates of the complex and found a large dumpster and surrounding structure fully ablaze. Flames from the dumpster consumed a wooden roof structure and spread into the attached laundry room.

With very narrow access for fire equipment, salve one engine was placed deep into the complex, while arriving fire apparatus parked on Aurora Drive and crews walked into the fire scene. A coordinated attack from the exterior to the interior of the building resulted in the fire being knocked down in 11 minutes. Overhaul of the fire followed with interior and exterior portions of the building inspected for flame spread.

A Ventura City Fire inspector is currently investigating the incident. It was estimated the building had approximately 20K in damage to the structure and 5K damage to contents. The facility was left in the care of a property management company. There were no reported injuries.
