On 3/23 at 11:19, Ventura City Fire was dispatched to a reported commercial alarm. In route, the incident was upgraded to a structure fire. On first unit arrival, crews located a small active fire in a ground floor apartment in the 1000 Block of Vista Del Mar Pl. with sprinklers activated. Fire sprinklers extinguished the fire but the apartment was changed with smoke. Crews made entry and ventilated the unit as other fire units controlled electricity and water flow. Fire damage was limited to cabinetry and construction materials in the unit kitchen. All adjoining units were investigated with no fire spread found.
Ventura City Fire Investigator was on scene to determine possible causes. Water damage throughout the unit was extensive and on site restoration crews were able to make repairs once the investigation was complete. No injuries were reported, the building was returned to site managers.
