Ventura Fire Department swings into action saving kids from rip tide

check arial,sans-serif;”>On Sunday afternoon, at 4:11pm, June 28th, Ventura City Fire Department personnel responded to a report of multiple children caught in a rip tide and in need of rescue. First arriving crews found three victims in distress caught in a rip tide, in medium surf with a strong wind. One rescue swimmer was deployed from a Ventura Harbor Patrol vessel, two from State Lifeguard vehicles, and two from a Ventura Fire Department engine. The three victims, an adult female and two juveniles, were successfully removed from the water without incident and did not require medical treatment at the scene.

Simultaneously, approximately 500 yards down coast, another victim was rescued from the surf by State Lifeguard personnel. This victim, an adult male, was evaluated by Fire personnel and ultimately refused transport. No other injuries were reported at the time of this release.
