Ventura Garage Fire threatens Neighboring Homes — Blaze put out in 22 Minutes

On October 17th at 7:25PM, Ventura City Fire Department responded to a reported structure in the 2100 block of Palomar Ave.  Upon arrival firefighters found a detached garage fully involved in fire threatening homes immediately adjacent to the burning garage.  Shortly after firefighters arrived flames burned through overhead power lines directly above the burning structure.  The energized power lines arcing on the ground initially impeded access to the fire.  Firefighters isolated the power lines and began extinguishing the main body of the fire while at the same time protecting the homes threatened by flames.

The fire was extinguished 22 minutes after firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

No firefighters were injured as a result of this incident.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
