Ventura: Homeless man stabbed–suspect escapes

viagra order times;”>Just past 5:30pm Sunday evening, pharmacy December 21st, order a citizen reported a stabbing that occurred at the intersection of Donlon and Transport Streets. The caller stated the victim was outside of a motor home parked at the location and the suspect fled the area on a bicycle. Officers, along with Ventura City Fire and AMR personnel, responded to the call and found the victim suffering from non-life threatening stab wounds to his upper body. He refused medical treatment.

During the investigation it was learned that Calvin Mortin, a 57 year old vagrant and the suspect, described as a white male who was also a vagrant,  knew each other and had gotten into a verbal altercation over a possible stolen bicycle. The suspect confronted Mortin and began threatening him with a large knife. The argument escalated, at which time the suspect demanded Mortin remove the contents of his pockets, while he continued threatening him with the knife. Mortin gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money and a watch. The suspect then fled the area on his bicycle with Mortin’s property.

Mortin sustained the injuries because the suspect held the knife close to his body.

Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the suspect. The investigation into this incident is ongoing. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Ventura Police Department at 339-4309.
