Ventura man arrested for luring minor into sexual relationship via social media

A patrol officer was dispatched and a juvenile female victim reported that Jonathan Burton used a social networking website to contact her and lure her into a sexual relationship. Burton also sent lewd photos to the victim and solicited lewd photos from her. Ventura Police Detectives were notified and began investigating.  

On Monday, 11-23-15 at about 2:5pm 24 year old Jonathan Burton was taken into custody in the area of Cedar St. and Shoshone St. Detectives later served a search warrant at his residence on Magnolia St. in the unincorporated area of Ventura. Detective’s located further information indicating there may be additional underage victims that Burton was communicating with.

Burton was later booked at the Ventura County Jail for 261.5(d) PC / Unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, 288(b)(2) PC / Oral Copulation with a minor, 289(i) PC / Penetration by a foreign object with a minor, 288.3(a) PC / Contacting a minor for sex, 288.4(a)(1) PC / Luring a minor for lewd conduct, 288.2(a)(1) PC / Sending harmful matter to a minor, and 311.11 PC / Possession of Child Pornography.

The investigation into this crime is ongoing and the Ventura Police Department is seeking to identify other potential victims in this case. Anyone who believes they have been victimized by Jonathan Raymond Burton should contact Det. Edwards of the Ventura Police Department at (805) 339-4328.
