VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that David Romero (DOB 10/04/90), of Ventura, was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison by Judge Anthony Sabo.  On February 22, 2019, Romero was convicted by a jury of rape and three counts of inflicting a traumatic condition upon his dating partner, and found true a special allegation of aggravated kidnapping.

In June 2013, Romero crawled through the victim’s bedroom window and dragged the 20-year-old woman away from her residence.  Romero then forced the victim into her car, drove to another location and raped her inside the vehicle while parked on an Oxnard street.  During the attack, Romero punched her in the face multiples times.  The victim suffered injuries to her arms, face and genitals.  Romero and the victim had been dating for several months and the victim was pregnant with his child at the time of the offense.  Romero had previously been convicted of stalking and criminal threats against a former dating partner.
