Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release
On November 12 2020 at 9:24 AM, a resident in the 1900 block of Sunridge Dr. observed a subject later identified as Brian Obst (DOB 11/3/89) walking up their driveway. The resident did not recognize Obst and was further concerned due to their garage door being left open. Just as Obst was about to enter the open garage, the resident confronted him, while also calling 9-1-1. Obst then fled the area on foot and was last seen by the resident walking east bound on Stork Street.
Responding officers were given a description and located Obst in the immediate area. When officers tried to contact Obst, he ran from them. After a short foot pursuit, officers took Obst into custody. Obst was positively identified by the resident and arrested for prowling and resisting/delaying arrest. Nobody was hurt during this incident.
A review of the Ventura County Superior Court website shows Obst to have several prior arrests that include petty theft, public intoxication and disturbing the peace.
