Ventura County Sheriff – Incident Press Release
On 4/24/2020, at 10:15 am, Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the Ojai Valley were patrolling the North Ventura Avenue area under the 33 Highway. At this location, they contacted Curry Maddox, age 41, who was living out of his mobile trailer on the side of the road.
During the contact, deputies determined Maddox was on parole for kidnapping. As part of Maddox’s conditional release, he had search terms which allowed the deputies to search his person, vehicle and property for prohibited items such as drugs and weapons. Deputies conducted a search of Maddox’s mobile trailer and discovered he was in possession of a loaded sawed-off shotgun, small amount of methamphetamine, two pounds of marijuana and numerous used syringes.
Maddox was arrested for numerous firearm and drug related charges. He was booked at the Ventura County Jail with bail set at $60,000 and an additional $20,000 for the parole violation. He is scheduled to appear in court on 4/27/2020, at 1:30pm.
