Ventura PD search for Suspect who threatened Target Employees with Knife

On February 23rd at 12:30PM, Loss Prevention Officers from Target observed a male subject, later identified as 27 year old vagrant, Brenden Garcia, shoplifting. When Garcia left the store without paying for merchandise, they contacted and detained him. Garcia was cooperative and went back into the store with the employees and gave them back the property he had stolen. While attempting to get more information from Garcia in the store, Garcia pulled out a fixed blade knife and threatened the employees with it. To keep from being stabbed, Loss Prevention allowed Garcia to leave the store and he then fled the area. Ventura Police Patrol Officers arrived on scene, but were unable to locate Garcia.
During the course of the investigation, Brenden Garcia was identified as the subject who had shoplifted and attempted to stab employees. He is currently not in custody. Anyone with information about this crime or Garcia’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Ventura Police Department at 339-4488.
