Ventura Police arrest suspects for December 2014 break-in of home of 89 year old

ambulance times;”>On December 23rd, price 2014, at 1:47 in the morning, Ventura PD patrol officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Via Baja re: a possible residential burglary in progress.

Officers arrived on scene and determined that two suspects had knocked on the front door of the residence and after receiving no answer gained access to the rear yard.

The suspects then began removing a window screen to a bedroom when the victim, 89 year old Ventura resident, Olivia Jacobs, was sleeping in this room, awoke and screamed causing the suspects to flee on foot.

Patrol officers and a VPD K-9 officer searched the area however the suspects were not located.

Detectives from the Street Crimes Unit began their investigation and were able to obtain video surveillance footage from the victim’s security cameras. With this footage that showed the two suspects detectives were able to identify one as 20 year old Luis Galvan, who detectives were familiar with from previous burglary arrests.

Detectives began searching for Galvan who has ties to gang members on the west end of the city as well as gang members on the east end.

On 1/16/15 detectives had information that Galvan was possibly staying at a family members residence in the 4700 block of Rossini Ln.  As detectives were watching this location Galvan and a second male were observed leaving and fled on foot as officers attempted to apprehend them.

Galvan was located a short time later attempting to hide in a nearby alcove. He was arrested and later booked into county jail on the charges of Burglary, Conspiracy, and resisting arrest.

The second male who fled was not located and was believed to be the second suspect from the burglary on Via Baja.

Detectives continued their investigation and on 1/21/15 obtained information that the second burglary suspect, now identified as 22 year old Pablo Peralta, also lived in different residence in the 4700 block of Rossini Ln.

VPD officers responded to this residence to conduct a probation search on Peralta who had search terms for stolen property.

Peralta was contacted and arrested on the charges of Burglary and Conspiracy. During the search of his residence an unregistered assault rifle, two shotguns, and a handgun were located and seized for further investigation.

Peralta was later transported and booked into county jail.
