UPDATE: MAN CALLS, CLAIMS HE HAS DOG–WANTS MONEY: Ventura: Pooch stolen while owner shopped

viagra times;”>UPDATE: During the early morning hours the victim received a phone call from an unknown male stating he had her dog. The suspect told the victim he found the dog near the area of the theft claiming the victim’s dog ruined some of his property. He is soliciting compensation and wanting a reward.

nurse times;”>Just past 8:30pm Friday night, online December 26th,  Ventura Patrol Officers responded to the Fresh & Easy store located in the 2200 block of E Thompson Blvd.  Someone had stolen a canine tied up outside the store.

A witness who had observed the suspect approach the dog that was secured to a leash outside the entrance of Fresh & Easy while its owner, Ventura resident, 30 year old Lindsey Mercer, was shopping inside.

The suspect detached the dog’s collar from the leash and pulled the dog towards a truck that pulled up on Jordan Ave. The suspect entered the passenger side of the truck with the dog and the truck drove off southbound on Jordan Ave.

The stolen dog is described as a small black and brown striped boxer. The suspect is a white female in her late 20’s, thin build, light brown hair, wearing an unknown color sweater and jeans.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white late model Chevy truck that is lifted and has a loud exhaust. There is no description of the driver of the suspect vehicle.

Officers checked the surrounding area for the suspect vehicle however it was not located.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information related to this crime is urged to call the Ventura Police Department at 339-4325, or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. If your information leads to an arrest, you could receive a cash reward of up to $1,000.
