Ventura | Sheriff clears Condominium property overrun with Squatters, Gangs, Narcotics, Criminals

On 10/12/18, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Gang Unit concluded a two month multi-agency investigation into a City of Ventura public nuisance within the 200 Block of West Harrison Avenue. Investigators worked closely with the community to resolve this neighborhood nuisance. The multi-condominium property within the 200 Block of Harrison Avenue was overrun by squatters for the past year. The property had become a safe haven for gang members, narcotics users, wanted felons, wanted parolees, and other known dangerous criminals within Ventura County.
During the service of the search warrant at the property, a large quantity of methamphetamine and heroin was recovered. Numerous arrests were made of individuals with outstanding Ventura County felony warrants, parolees at large, and under the influence of a controlled substance.
City of Ventura Code Enforcement deemed the property unsafe to live and red tagged the property. Ventura County Child Protective Services contacted numerous children residing on the property to determine their safety and well-being. Ventura County Animal Control responded and rescued sixteen dogs living in poor sanitary conditions.
