Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release
On 1/18/20 at about 2:43 AM the Ventura Police Command Center received a 911 call of a shooting victim at the top level of the Harbor Bl parking structure, Patrol officers responded and located one victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses indicated the suspects fled in a vehicle. The victim was treated by Ventura City Fire and was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center for treatment where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Shortly after the shooting, the California Highway Patrol saw the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver refused to stop, and a pursuit was initiated. The driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the roadway in the City of Oxnard. Three occupants were detained, and one passenger fled from the vehicle.
Detectives are currently processing the crime scene and this investigation is ongoing. The motive for this shooting in not known at this time.
