Ventura: Stolen vehicle in hit and run accident: Driver arrested after citizens detain him

At 4pm, ampoule March 10th, Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a hit and run traffic accident that just occurred near the intersection of Laurel St. and Thompson Blvd. While officers were still responding to the call, citizens reported having chased one of the drivers, later identified as 20 year old Ventura resident, Henry Olivo, who fled on foot from one of the involved vehicles after the collision. Olivo was being detained at the corner of Laurel St. and Santa Clara St. Officers responded to that location, at which time he was taken into custody.

During the course of the investigation officers learned the vehicle Olivo had been driving was a reported stolen vehicle out of Ventura. Additionally, he refused to give officers his correct name during the investigation. He was arrested and ultimately booked into the Ventura County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle, misdemeanor hit and run, and giving a false name.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured as a result of the accident.
