On August 8th at 5:35 am, the Ventura Police Command Center received a 911 call from the victim reporting that she just woke up and found the suspect in her bedroom in the 700 Block S. Hill Street. The victim further reported when she screamed, the suspect fled out her front door and ran in an unknown direction.  Numerous officers were on scene quickly and searched the area, which included setting up a perimeter and deploying police K9’s to assist. Major Crimes Detectives were notified and responded to the scene.

After an extensive search, the suspect was not located. The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was home alone sleeping, and woke up to the suspect crouched next to the side of her bed. Just as the victim awoke, the suspect began to sexually assault her. The victim screamed and the suspect got up and ran out of the residence.

Investigators believe the suspect entered the victim’s residence through an unlocked patio slider and then exited out the front door. Two similar incidents occurred in this same area, dating back to April 21st. VPD investigators believe the same suspect is responsible for these crimes due to the suspect’s description and behavior. On all occasions, the victim’s reported leaving windows and/or slider’s unlocked. The Ventura Police Department is asking for assistance in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information can call Det. Hibdon at 339-4443. The Police Department also wants to remind residents to close and lock all windows and doors during the late evening and early morning hours, and to immediately report any suspicious activity or person(s).
