Ventura: Teen driver arrested driving under the influence

rx arial, healing sans-serif;”>On June 1st at 5:50pm, order the Ventura Police Department Command Center received a call from an employee at the Mobil Gas Station regarding a male subject disturbing inside the business. VPD patrol officers responded to the scene and the male subject was gone. The employee told the officers that the male subject appeared to be intoxicated and was now driving a Black Cadillac Escalade with a U-Haul trailer in tow.

A patrol Sergeant spotted the Escalade in the intersection of Harbor Blvd and Seaward Ave. A traffic stop was initiated and the Escalade failed to yield. The Escalade began to drive erratically and violated several traffic laws. The Escalade turned onto the northbound 101 Freeway on ramp from Seaward and began to accelerate at a high rate of speed. A pursuit ensued northbound on the 101 Freeway and the driver of the Escalade, 19 year old  Santino Castello, lost control of the car and almost caused a collision on the 101 northbound freeway. Castello collided with a curb at the San Jon off-ramp and continued until he came to a stop at the San Jon off-ramp and Vista Del Mar. Castello appeared to be intoxicated.

After further investigation, it was determined that Castello was driving under the influence of narcotics and was also in possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested for felony evading, driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance and later booked into the Ventura County Jail. No one was injured during the incident.
