Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release
In the evening hours of 9/2/2020 Ventura Police communications center received multiple reports of fires along the Ventura Avenue corridor as well as the Olive Street both north and south of Main street. Ventura City Fire Department responded with patrol officers and quickly extinguished the fires.
Detectives with the Ventura Police Major Crimes unit were able to identify the suspect from video surveillance located in the area of one of the fires. Detectives found Santiago and detained him without incident.
Detectives were able to link Santiago with 4 different intentional fires set on 9/2/2020. Santiago was booked at the Ventura County Jail for Arson.
A review of the Ventura County Superior Court website shows that Santiago has previous arrests for being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and driving without a license.
