cialis arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>Ventura Water customers have a valuable new water-saving tool to help minimize their potable (drinkable) water use; the Residential Recycled Water Mobile Reuse Program provides customers with high quality recycled (non-potable) water to use for landscape irrigation.  The recycled water is strictly monitored to ensure it meets quality standards for all non-potable uses, which makes it ideal for landscape irrigation, dust control and soil compaction.

To participate in the program and receive recycled water, customers must attend a free training session, held Tuesdays, Thursdays and alternating Saturdays from 9am – 10am at the Ventura Water Reclamation Facility, 1400 Spinnaker Drive in the Ventura Harbor.  Sign-up by calling Customer Care at 805-667-6500 or visit www.cityofventura.net/water/mobile-reuse-program.  In celebration of the City’s 150th birthday, the first 150 participants will receive a complimentary 20-gallon tree bag.

The training program informs customers how recycled water is treated, the history and future of water reuse, how to use recycled water, why it’s beneficial, the proper hauling methods and the prohibitions.  Following the training, residents take their signed permit to Ventura City Hall, 501 Poli Street, Treasury Office, Room #107 to pay a $75 annual fee to complete their permit.  Customers bring their completed permit to the Fill Station located at 1400 Spinnaker Drive, open Wednesdays to Saturdays, 8am – 3pm to fill their approved and labeled container(s) with recycled water. The minimum container size/volume is five gallons, and the maximum is 300 gallons.  The recycled water must be used the same day, and cannot be stored longer than 24 hours.

Ventura relies on three local water sources for its supply – the Ventura River, Lake Casitas and local groundwater wells.  Gina Dorrington, Ventura Water’s Wastewater Utility Manager helped launch this recycled water program, which took 18 months to develop and get permitted.  Dorrington said, “This program allows our community to reuse as much recycled water as possible and supports our goal of providing a safe, reliable and adequate water supply today, tomorrow and into the future.”
