Ventura woman gets 300 days in jail for Narcotics Charge

Angela Marie Barretto (DOB 12/04/80), of Ventura, was sentenced to 300 days in jail and placed on probation for two years. Barretto previously pled guilty on March 16, 2021, to possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, possession of a firearm and automobile insurance fraud.

In February 2018, Barretto was in a car accident. Her automobile insurance policy had expired in January 2018. Shortly after the accident, Barretto purchased an automobile insurance policy, but failed to disclose she had been involved in a car accident. She subsequently made an insurance claim for the damages. Investigation confirmed the accident had occurred prior to Barretto’s purchase of insurance and thus her claim for coverage from the accident was fraudulent.

In August 2019, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit (VCSO Gang Unit) served a search warrant at Barretto’s residence. The search uncovered a .38 caliber Derringer, a Sig Sauer .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol, ammunition, nine grams of methamphetamine and two grams of heroin.  Investigation in this case was conducted by the District Attorney’s Office Auto Insurance Fraud Unit and the VCSO Gang Unit.
