On Friday, October 7th at 5:07 PM a female citizen was walking in the 1800 block of E. Main St. in Ventura when a female vagrant approached her and punched her in the back of the head. The vagrant fled the scene and a witness called the police. VPD patrol officers responded, canvased the area, and located a suspect in a nearby bar. Both the victim and witness identified that suspect, 34 year old Michelle Garcia from Oxnard, as the person who committed the battery.
Officers placed Garcia under arrest and she resisted by kicking an officer in the leg twice. Garcia was restrained and transported to the Ventura County Jail without further incident. None of the involved parties, including the officer, were injured during this incident.
Garcia was booked in jail for Battery and Battery on a Peace Officer. This is not the first time Garcia has battered an officer as she is currently on probation for Battery on a Peace Officer and Theft.
