Victim spots his stolen car at Pacific View Mall–PD K9 aids in capture of suspect
recipe arial, clinic sans-serif;”>On September 10th, medications Thursday at 9:14pm the Ventura Police Department Command Center received a call from a victim, Cesar Rodriguez-Montoya an Oxnard Resident, who had his vehicle stolen in the City of Oxnard two days before. The victim saw his vehicle being driven by the suspect in the vicinity of the Pacific View Mall. Officers arrived on scene but were unable to locate the vehicle at that time.
An hour later, a VPD officer spotted the stolen vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on the 33 freeway towards Ojai. The officer attempted to catch up to the stolen vehicle but lost sight of it in the area of Norway and Ventura Ave. A perimeter was established in the surrounding neighborhoods with the assistance of the Ventura County Sheriffs Department, and VPD officers along with the VPD K9 unit conducted a yard to yard search.
The suspect was discovered by VPD k9 Eron hiding in a resident’s back yard, and Eron was sent in to apprehend the suspect. The suspect violently resisted arrest and proceeded to fight with the k9 and officers. The suspect was eventually taken safely into custody, and none of the officers were injured in this incident. However, Eron did sustain minor abrasion on his nose from the suspect punching him in the face.
The suspect 44 year old Ventua resident, Harold Marshall was booked at the county jail on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle, prowling, resisting arrest, and battery on a police service dog.
