Do Violent Words Matter?

  by Phil Erwin

Congressman Scalise

Congressman Steve Scalise and fellow Republican victims were barely tucked into ambulances before the surprise was unfolding: The shooter targeting them at baseball practice was not a Muslim, not a known criminal, and not an immigrant-terrorist.

He was, in fact, a homegrown terrorist.

But what really threw the Media for a loop was that James Hodgkinson was not an angry gun-toting Right-wing nutjob; he was an angry gun-toting Left-wing nutjob.

Hunhh? You mean the shooter was not a Republican?

Nope. The shooter hated Republicans, and finally decided to vent his hatred with a rifle. And several dozen bullets.

But.. How can that be? It’s the Republicans that are the homophobic climate-killing gun-toting Bible-thumpers who hate everybody else! It can’t be a Democrat behaving so badly! Can it?

You see the problem. The Lamestream Media have been working overtime to pin the “violent extremist” tail on the wrong donkey – the GOP elephant. Every story, every video clip, every anchor’s commentary practically drips with holier-than-them sentiment proclaiming the Democrats to be pious and pure, while the Republicans are made out to be mean, stupid and violent to the core. Hodgkinson might’ve fit that bill splendidly – except he was a committed Leftist, a Progressive marcher and protester, a supporter of Bernie Sanders who despised Trump and all Republicans.

Oh, to hear the newsroom bleating about that little rip in the fabric of Left-wing reality.

Minority Leader: Nancy Pelosi

Democrats instantly proclaimed a re-dedication to “unity” and national esprit, at least for an hour or two. But Scrunchie Pelosi just couldn’t help herself, and before the day was out she was back on camera doing her epileptic Wicked-Witch impression and “explaining” that Republicans were really to blame. Meanwhile, CBS anchor Scott Pelley wondered on-camera whether the damage wasn’t “self-inflicted.” And the New York Fake-Times whipped up an editorial re-visiting the long-ago debunked notion that little bullseye target icons on a Sarah Palin campaign map “caused” their beloved Rep. Gabby Giffords to be shot (along with 18 other forgotten victims) at an Arizona strip mall. (The shooter was a paranoid schizophrenic obsessed with Giffords – the “bullseye” graphic had nothing whatsoever to do with the tragedy.)

Of course, when the Left is caught with their collective BS-slip showing, they turn all pious. No, no, it’s not our fault! But they’ve been spouting hate speech disguised as “news” for decades now, ever since they became permanently furious about Bill Clinton getting impeached over – ahemleakage – and they have been scoping ever since for a pay-back impeachment. Bush lied, people died! wasn’t just about winning elections; it was about de-legitimizing a President and his Party. And it worked…

…Until Trump. And that is why the Dems are so furious about Trump winning. They really believe Hillary was destined to be the first woman President, and therefore Democrats owned the right to the White House. In their minds, the lease was signed, the contract recorded, and the new furniture bought and paid for.

How dare the Republicans get in the way of Destiny!

So in their haughty, irrational fury at having been “denied” their “rightful due,” Democrats are willing to say, and to do, absolutely anything to get in the way of Trump governing; to try absolutely any tactic to accomplish their ultimate goal: To get rid of him!

Now comes Hodgkinson, stewed for years in Progressive hate-speak – he campaigned for Bernie Sanders, he echoed Progressive sentiments at a St. Louis “Occupy” protest – “The 99% are getting pushed around, and the 1% are just not giving a damn…” He belonged to Facebook groups like “Terminate the Republican Party.” The Republicans-are-Devils mythology finally congealed within him to the point where shooting Republicans seemed a reasonable, justifiable form of political action.

Democrats insist that He’s not us! But he was. Republicans, per usual, accept responsibility for things they didn’t do: We all need to tone down the rhetoric and come together…

Donald Trump wasn’t elected by Republicans because they thought he was the “best” Republican. He was elected because they thought he was the only Republican with the spine and the stones to actually fight back, rather than behaving like a whipped puppy. Republicans have cowered for so long beneath a constant well-orchestrated Democrat brow-beating – funneled through a compliant, ideologically blinded and corrupt Press – they’ve forgotten how to stand up for themselves.

Donald Trump, for all his many, very visible failings, certainly knows how to stand up for himself and his own.

Mara Eliasson – a real journalist (rare, indeed!) who covers the national political scene for both acutely Liberal NPR and “fair and balanced” FOX, says “The blaming each other, and using rhetoric that incites violence has to stop, and both parties have a lot to do with it, there’s not one party that’s guilty here.” Perhaps Eliasson spends too much time absorbing the hyper-Liberal perspective of her NPR cohorts. There’s just no question that the Left is well-practiced in using inflammatory language to bait, belittle and besmirch Republicans, who typically respond with little more than weak complaint. But Eliasson at least recognizes what the Lamestream Press refuses to acknowledge: That Democrats do use incendiary language. That they share any reasonable blame.

It’s much like a family squabble between two siblings – one the older (or the male) who is expected to be more “adult,” more flexible/forgiving; and one the younger (or the female) who is cuter, more cuddly/vivacious, and can always get away with s**t. Democrats are the younger sibling – piously sincere in saying I didn’t mean it or It wasn’t me! while Republicans are the older sibling, perpetually getting the bad rap, the short stick, the blame for damage caused by the younger. Democrats have learned that there is never a comeuppance for them; while Republicans sense that they can never win. That’s because the completely Liberal Lamestream Media will always blame Republicans and exonerate Democrats.

Thus, as Scalise and crew are carted off in ambulances, a respected journalist says “Both parties are to blame,” while the New York Times runs an editorial resurrecting the completely refuted fraud about Sarah Palin “targeting” Democrats.

NO, New York Times: That story was debunked immediately! But the man who shot Steve Scalise and four others was a gun-toting Liberal-Progressive Democrat from Illinois, who deliberately targeted Republicans after simmering for years in a Liberal-Progressive fraud-stew of “The 1%” and “Black Lives Matter” and “Republicans are Climate-Deniers” – and now “Russia owns Donald Trump” – before finally blowing a gasket.

Liberals/Democrats – especially Progressives – you use violent rhetoric as a political tool. Own it. Or quit it.

That pretty much eliminates supporting most Democrats, and a bunch of Republicans to boot.
