Visit pirates who have commandeered the Schooner Bill of Rights

By George Miller

The schooner Bill of Rights was home-ported in Channel Islands Harbor for years, before being sold to a private group a couple of years ago when the owners couldn’t continue to own her. South Bayfront Sailing Association now keeps her going, based in Chula Vista, via a volunteer crew and whatever funds she can raise.

The craft has lately been commandeered by pirates and was diverted to Ventura Harbor, right off the Harbor Walk on Spinnaker Drive.  The Ventura Police Dept. has declined to arrest the Pirates/perpetrators, at least until PIRATE DAYS WEEKEND in Ventura Harbor is over. So, here’s an opportunity for you and the kiddies to take a tour or go sailing off the beautiful Ventura County Coast.
