Westpark Community Center to receive donation from Altrusa International


The public is invited to attend a brief donation ceremony at Westpark Community Center, pill 450 West Harrison Avenue in Ventura, healing on Tuesday, April 22 from 4:30 to 5 pm. will present a $2,200 check for supplies for the youth center to Mayor Cheryl Heitmann and Councilmember Mike Tracy after a few opening remarks. Visitors may view the center’s many young participants fully engaged in a variety of activity rooms (computer, ceramics, music, boxing and games).

The Westpark Community Center provides a variety of safe, educational and affordable youth programs and services, such as: homework and tutoring; recreation enrichment; sports; classes and special events.  Westpark specializes in teaching Westside youth about the importance of self-esteem, leadership, good character, responsibility and respect.  Visit www.cityofventura.net/westpark.

 Altrusa International Inc. is a volunteer service organization of professionals dedicated to making communities better through leadership, partnership and service, with a focus on literacy, HIV/AIDS and disaster relief. Last year, Altrusans proudly gave over a million volunteer hours around the world, with chapters or clubs in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, England, Bermuda, Ireland, India, Scotland, New Zealand and Russia. The organization’s local chapter has been serving Ventura County for 62 years.

 “Altrusa means leadership and service in action,” said Mayor Heitmann. “We are very grateful for Altrusans supporting of our city’s Westside Community Center and its youth.”
