Where Are the Clowns?

.
By Phil Erwin
Remember when Donald Trump rode down his own escalator to announce in the lobby of his own New York Skyscraper that he was running for President?
The entire Liberal Media crowd all rejoiced. They ate it up: A Clown Show! What could be better for an election year? (Never mind that none in the Media were likely to ever own their own Skyscraper!)
Of course, the Republican Party and their (very, very few) media outlets were really not impressed. I mean, they already had a circus going. They were on their way to having sixteen other candidates performing in the ring — who needed a clown?
So… Let’s just review this clown’s performance:
-
The political “experts” (or so they think of themselves) at the New York Times, the Washington Post, the broadcast networks, CNN and (especially) MSNBC all laughed. Literally. And said he’d never last a month. (Or two… Or three…) So they laughed. And they enjoyed themselves with their snide, cynical coverage. No Way would he ever get the nomination.
Ooopps! He did.
-
Then they got mad. And they turned mean. And they said No Way he could hold his own against Hillary.
Ooopps! He did.
-
Then they started screaming, No Way can he win! We won’t let him win!
Ooopps. He did.
-
Then they scoffed, No Way he could manage to put together an actual, for-real Cabinet. And of course, they scoffed when he complained about his team being “bugged.” It’s now becoming obvious somebody was spying on his transition team, which certainly suggests they were worried they might be wrong. About everything. Ooopps. They were.
-
But they just knew he’d mess up the Inauguration.
Ooopps. They were so wrong about that, they had to concoct some Fake News about how Obama got a bigger crowd than Trump. (In case you don’t know – The “comparison” pictures were of Obama’s crowd actually listening to his speech, as compared to Trump’s crowd gathering a full three hours before he spoke. Did I say “Fake”? I meant “Deliberately Fraudulent.”)
-
Then they did their best to prove how he’d really messed up his First 100 Days.
Ooopps. Looks pretty decent to most of us decent folk (which is to say, those of us not mainlining the Liberal Kool-Aid.) ‘Course, it did take him two swings to get that ObamaCare replacement going, and tax reform is just getting off the ground, but whaddayou expect for three months, and from a political newcomer? Sure Obama got some big legislation signed, but he had old hands running both the House and Senate, they had a bulletproof majority, and the country was in financial crisis, no way were Republicans going to object to anything! By contrast, the Democrats have objected to absolutely everything! Obstructed Trump at every move. And yet, the economy’s improving, the gears are turning. The sky’s not falling.
-
So they said, Just wait, he’s gonna be a clown on the International Stage. He’s gonna mess up, big time, when it comes to Foreign Affairs.
Ooopps. The Saudis love him. So do the Egyptians, the Jordanians, the Emiraties. And of course, the Israelis want him for Honorary President. Or Prime Minister. Or Pope, if they had one. And by the way, the Pope seems to like him, too. Oh… And the Chinese President seems to be starting up a Trump Fan Club back home, and suggesting to North Korea that they just might wanna consider joining…
When you come right down to it, if you’re a reasonable, fair-minded, open-eyed person who’s getting the real news on FOX, FBN, One America, or the Wall Street Journal (not the Full-of-Fraud stuff formerly known as the “Mainstream Media”), you’ve got to admit that Trump ain’t doin’ half-bad. Sure, he’s rough around the edges, he’s a mensch rather than a polished politico. (Which is, I remind you, precisely why he was elected!)
Ahhh, but there’s the rub: If you’re watching the Fraud News, you have absolutely no idea that things might be, in at least some important ways, actually trending toward better. Instead, you’re getting a steady diet of Trump-hate, swamp-water bilge and political pablum, delivered by such inveterate BS babblers as Schmuck Shumer and Scrunchie Pelosi, and repeated ad naseum by such Liberal lackies as Lapdog Lawrence O’Bubble and Rachel MadCow.
To borrow Steven Sondheim’s sardonic lyric:
Where are the clowns?
Send in the clowns!
Don’t bother – they’re here.
If you get your “news” from ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times or virtually any of the other newspapers in metropolitan markets except for the Wall Street Journal, and you try to converse about politics or current events, you simply do not know what you’re talking about. Because all those Left-Only outlets are chock-full of clowns masquerading as serious journalists.
A generation ago, Bernard Goldberg described them in his brilliant book, Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distorts the News. In an interview, Goldberg explained the reason he felt compelled to write the book. He was standing at the proverbial office water cooler, listening to the conversations of coworkers, and it dawned on him: They’re so universally, irretrievably biased, they can’t even recognize their own bias. They think it’s the only possible viewpoint.
And that is why the Left can’t even accept President Trump as a serious man. When everyone around you is a clown, clowns seem “normal.” It’s the non-clown who seems “off.”
The clown-journalists are blinded to any competing viewpoints. Hence, they do not cover stories that might be positive for Republicans, because such a thing is not possible in their clown-Universe. They only cover stories that are positive for Democrats or stories that can be made negative for Republicans. And they have absolutely no problem with bending the Truth to the breaking point, or fabricating outright lies, in order to convince you that all Republicans are Evil, and Trump is the Devil, and all Democrats are genius Angels. (Never mind that they don’t believe in Angels, or the Devil, or Evil – they also have absolutely no problem living lives utterly filled with hypocrisy!)
Don’t bother seeking clowns. They’re here.
“Fake News?” Maybe we should call it the Clown News.

Expanding the military-industrial complex or Trump Casinos is not a sustainable economic program. Alienating our allies and diminishing NATO is not the path to peace. Sucking up to murderous despots like Putin, Erdogan and Duterte will not enhance America’s image.
After all is said and done, we each have our opinions. I await history’s judgement. However, for a news journal to further the fake news conspiracy theory involving Seth Rich, well, that is certainly a horse of a different color. Your “news” shall be known and recognized as a purveyor of alt-facts. This is not something you should take pride in.
Discerning readers know the difference between a news article and an opinion piece. This one says “column.” Column is nearly universally recognized as an opinion piece.
We, as always, welcome you to write us something.
It really isn’t that hard to connect the dots . . .
Trump’s “empire” was a house of cards, supported by infusions of Russian cash. Trump’s goal was never about #MAGA. It was all about him saving face and preserving as much of his crumbling real estate portfolio as he could. And if that meant having to hand NATO over to a smirking Putin, so be it.
Trump will destroy anyone who comes into his orbit, whether it is some flunky general, the Republican Congress, his son-in-law, even his wife.
I think we will survive this, maybe even emerge stronger. The lesson we will have learned is that the uber-rich aren’t really smarter than us. They simply have more money. And they certainly do not make better legislators or presidents!
You’re living in a dream world. Trump’s empire/net worth have grown by leaps and bounds in recent years. He needed the Presidency like a hole in the head, but could no longer stand and watch the likes of Bush, Clinton, Obama wreck the country. A Hillary predeincvy would have been the last straw- thank God that wass prevented. Trump, for all of his many flaws, is infinitely better.
Looks like you drank the DNC Kool Aid that Seth Rich may have had to die for to expose.
